Jelly Bean for Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note by October

Jelly Bean for Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note by October:
Samsung appears to be ahead of the Android game these days, with the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet already out and the Note 2 “phablet” pretty much confirmed to be hitting the shelves in two weeks or less. The Galaxy Note looks to be living up to expectations and so far receiving favourable reviews.
At the same time, Samsung is focusing on updating as many devices as they can to this latest and best Android version, while at the same time working to improve their existing range of super-phones.
What might come as a surprise to some industry observers is the timing of Samsung’s Jelly Bean upgrades. While, predictably, the Galaxy S3 is almost sure to get the Jelly Bean treatment first (in a few weeks), the first-generation Galaxy Note and GS2 may be hot on its heels with Android 4.1 compatibility now “confirmed” for October at the latest. This is a little weird since only a few weeks ago reports stated that Samsung had only just begun testing Jelly Bean on the GS2. However it seems that (unusually in the world of technology) the integration went unexpectedly well and release dates have jumped forward. A source afor the online publication SamMobile, based on an anonymous tip, revealed that “The tests by Samsung are fine and Samsung will make the public KIES release version if everything goes according to plan … in September – October”.
Rumor and speculation, you may say. We agree. And as such, this information must be taken with a large dose of salt. On the other hand, SamMobile has been proven to hit the nail on the head with regularity when it comes to such speculation, so it may be worth watching this space.
Either way, we can definitely expect an official announcement from Samsung very shortly, at the Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29. A statement from Samsung would put all our hopes, doubts and assumptions to rest one way or the other around the intriguing subject of whether the upgrades will in fact be ready or are still in initial testing phases.
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only Sam-fan out there who’s looking forward to the prospect of a swift GNote or GS2 upgrade to Jelly Bean. On the other hand, there may be those among you (you know who you are) who’ve already flashed one of the unofficial Android 4.1 custom ROMs.
